Getting to the Moxie Falls Trail is easy, especially if you put the address into your GPS. Travel along Moxie Pond Road until you see a parking lot. Look for a sign that directs you to the start of the trail. Simple. Short and sweet at 2.1 miles, the Moxie Falls Trail snags an easy rating, making it an ideal hike for families with children and leashed dogs. Be prepared for several steep sections and some stairs during your adventure. The trail can get muddy, too, so keep that in mind when deciding what hiking shoes to wear.

On a snowy day, you might want to snowshoe rather than hike. Moxie Falls Trail, which boasts a swimming hole, is particularly popular in the summer. However, the pretty path transforms into a proverbial winter wonderland during the coldest months. Consider bringing hiking poles if there’s a lot of snow, especially since the stairs do not have railings to help you go up and down.

As you trek to the tallest waterfall in Maine, you’ll pass breathtaking smaller waterfalls, well worth stopping and taking photos, a serene stream, and snow-capped trees.
