The Monkey Trail in Eddie D. Jones Park offers a unique hiking and biking experience with sounds from a nearby chimpanzee sanctuary.

When you’re looking to spend time outdoors, Louisiana has plenty of options. Whether you’re looking to spend time out on the water, take a swamp tour, or just take a stroll through a nature trail, Louisiana has you covered. For those looking for a casual stroll through nature, we’ve got the perfect trail. This isn’t your ordinary trail, either. The Monkey Trail will have you thinking you’ve been transported to the jungle. Let’s check it out.

You’ll find the Monkey Trail inside of the Eddie D. Jones Park in Keithville, which is just outside of Shreveport.

This lovely loop trail clocks in at about 10 miles, so you’ll want to set aside a few hours to fully explore this beautiful hidden gem.

Because of the steep turns and little hills along the way, it’s a great trail for both hikers and bikers alike.

So feel free to bring your bike along for a fun-filled ride with some fun elevation changes.

You might be wondering why the trail is called the “Monkey Trail.”

Well, as you get close to Chimp Haven, you’ll understand why

Chimp Haven is a chimpanzee sanctuary for retired chimps, and you’ll be able to hear the symphony of sounds from these cute little fellas along your hike.

It’s not everyday you hear chimpanzees in the distance. But it adds a fun little soundtrack to an already perfect trail!
