Nolin Lake, in Nolin Lake State Park, is a small lake that has a ton to offer. From beautiful views to lots of outdoor recreation, this a great spot to spend a summer weekend.
This lake is actually a reservoir created by the Nolin River Dam.
It was created by the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 1963. The size varies seasonally, growing from 2,890 acres in the winter to 5,795 acres in the summertime.
The Nolin Lake State Park opened in 2001 to offer wonderful outdoor recreation to Kentucky locals and tourists alike.
Offering a campground, swimming, boating, and even fishing activities, this is one of the best places to go and visit.
There are more than 32 campsites to choose from with water and electricity and 27 primitive campsites.
All of them come with spectacular views and close proximity to the beautiful lake. There is a shower and restroom building, as well as laundry facilities for your use.
Some of the most popular activities are swimming, boating, and fishing.
Anything that gets you out enjoying that calm lake is top on the to-do list. The beach is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
If you’d prefer to leg your legs moving, there’s a wonderful hiking trail you can explore.
Take the 9.2-mile hike, and even spot a waterfall if the conditions are right. Pack good sturdy shoes, grab some water, and hit the trail!
