There are many scenic areas in Kentucky, some officially named so and others that are just known for their natural beauty. Our state is also home to several natural arches and bridges that make our hiking trails interesting, beautiful, and difficult to stay away from. If you love hiking in Kentucky then surely you know about the Natural Arch Scenic Area. This Natural Arch in Kentucky can be seen up close along a trail, but there is also an easily accessible overlook that offers sweeping views. Whether you experience it in one or both ways, it is a must-see sight in the Bluegrass.
The Natural Arch is an official Scenic Area within the Daniel Boone National Forest, located in the southern portion of the region.
The closest town is Whitley City and while there are no major cities nearby, there are more hiking trails and places to explore than you'd ever hope for. McCreary County and the Natural Arch in Kentucky are downright gorgeous all year long.
The of arch is of course the main attraction in this area and it's magnificent in person.
It spans nearly 100 feet and is surrounded by the trees and plantlife of Daniel Boone National Forest. In fact, the plant life also decorates the top of the arch, making for even more incredible scenery.
Some natural arches in Kentucky are difficult to reach, but the Natural Arch has an access point that is perfect for all who want to enjoy the view.
A paved pathway leads to the overlook and continues all the way up to the edge and the railing. You can also take the steps down, as shown in the beautiful photo above. Here you can learn about the arch, the area, and take all the pictures your heart desires.
These views are amazing all year long, so it is even a great spot to visit many times.

If you'd like to get a closer look at this natural wonder, take the hiking trail that begins at the picnic area.
You can see a map of this area here, and also the direction for the trails. It's a short hike to reach the base of the arch, but you can choose to traverse for miles along the trails in the area. View a complete trail map here.
The views from the base of the arch are just as beautiful as those from afar.
And of course there is nothing quite like a trail that winds its way through the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky. It is the perfect place for an outdoor adventure.
