Royal Oak Farm Orchard is located about as far north in McHenry County, Illinois as you can go before hitting Wisconsin. Family-owned, this U-pick apple orchard in Illinois has been in business since 1992 and opened to the public in 1997.

This apple orchard is a bit unique. Guests pay for the experience and receive a bag to fill for one price. The cost of admission varies for adults, seniors, and children between the ages of 4 and 18. Children under the age of 3 are admitted for free but do not receive a bag for apples.

The admission price includes a wagon ride out to the 120-acre orchard. Guests are not allowed to bring their own containers. For those who want to pick even more apples, a 10-12 pound bag is available for an additional price.

Take as much time as you like picking out the perfect apples. There's no better way to guarantee that your fruit is fresh than by pulling it from the tree it came from yourself. The farm has more than 16,000 trees and 30 varieties of apples.

You can also purchase pre-picked apples in the store. Donuts, cider, fudge, decor, and a plethora of other classic fall farm goodies are also available in the market.

Other fun activities to enjoy at this U-pick apple orchard in Illinois include tractor-pulled hayrides, bonfires, and an apple maze. There's an additional cost for the maze; however, you'll get to pick two ripe apples along the way.
