This Remote River Float Trip In Idaho Is A Must-Visit This Summer

Enjoy a memorable summer day with a float trip down Henry’s Fork of the Snake River in Island Park, Idaho.

One of the best things about summer in Idaho is spending time on the water. Whether on a lake, a waterpark, or even next to a waterfall, there is something special and memorable about these destinations this time of the year. While there is a long list of destinations that we could recommend for spending a summer day, one of my personal favorites is a float trip down the North Fork of the Snake River, Henry’s Fork. Believe me, it’s a must-visit this summer.

Island Park has become a popular summer destination. With camping, hiking, ATV riding, and so many other activities all around, this is paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Plus, it is also near multiple national and state parks. However, to reach Island Park, you’ll have a bit of a drive ahead of you. It will certainly take some effort to reach this area of the state.

But, located in the heart of Island Park is Mack’s Inn Resort. This area is quite popular as you’ll find a hotel, restaurants, and one of the best float trips in Idaho.

At Mack’s Inn Resort, you can rent rafts, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, etc., to float down Henry’s Fork. This is a five-mile adventure that is absolutely beautiful.

You’ll enjoy beautiful river and mountain views along your way …

… and it isn’t uncommon to see wildlife like deer, eagles, swans, and even moose.

All rentals are for three hours and include paddles. If you rent an eight-man raft, life jackets are also included. Plus, Mack’s Inn Resort will transport you to the launch site.

Feel free to bring coolers with drinks and snacks on your adventure and make sure you have lots of sunscreen and a hat. It’s also wise to bring a waterproof bag for valuables and trash. Pets and fishing equipment are not allowed on the rafts.

For a day outdoors and a trip down the river, a visit to Mack’s Inn in Island Park is just what you need. It may be a bit of a drive to reach the area, but once you are there, it will be a summer day you won’t soon forget.

Visit Mack’s Inn Resort website for additional information on the river adventures.
