The Little-Known Hot Springs In Idaho That Will Melt Your Worries Away

Life can be overwhelming. When you feel stress wash over you, it’s time to unwind, relax, and just be. While there are many places around the Gem State that are perfect for a little R&R, today, we want to introduce you to Boat Box Hot Springs, some little-known hot springs near Stanley, Idaho. Perfect for a soak no matter the weather, these hot springs are going to provide the self-care that you desperately need.

Idaho is home to hundreds of hot springs. However, many of these pools of water are too hot for a relaxing soak. Fortunately, there are still 130 hot springs in Idaho where you can enjoy the hot water and Boat Box Hot Springs is one of them.

While I could list many incredible hot springs to visit (some primitive and some at lovely resorts), Boat Box Hot Springs near Stanley, Idaho is a hidden gem that will help you destress.

These hot springs were formerly known as Elkhart Hot Springs.

You will find Boat Box Hot Springs approximately three miles from Stanley, Idaho. The hot springs are located along the Salmon River and next to Idaho State Highway 75, making them easily accessible all year long.

These Idaho hot springs are a little different than others around the state. Here, you will find a small tub that you can climb inside. The tub isn’t large and can only fit two to three adults.

Hot water is fed through a pipe into the tub, allowing you to adjust the temperature of the water.

As with all hot springs, always check the water temperature before hopping in. The hot water at these springs can reach up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit so checking is a priority.

While we always love a winter soak, a visit in the summer is just as magical. You can soak in the hot water and then spend time splashing in the river or even fishing. It’s a fabulous day trip destination in one of the most beautiful areas in Idaho.

Have you ever soaked at Boat Box Hot Springs? What are some of your favorite hot springs in Idaho? Let us know in the comments.

I love Stanley and the surrounding area. In this part of the state, you can spend your days at Redfish Lake, on countless trails, and soaking in nearby hot springs. And, to top it all off, you can book a stay in a local vocational rental. It will make you feel like a local in this charming community.
