The best way to spend a hot summer day in Idaho is under a waterfall and in a natural swimming hole. While there are only a handful of these extraordinary destinations in the Gem State, Jump Creek is the best. Located in Marsing, this stunning waterfall will leave you impressed, but even more, the natural swimming hole at the bottom will be hard to leave. Jump Creek Falls is certainly a waterfall and natural swimming hole in Idaho that you must add to your bucket list.
Jump Creek Falls is an inspiring 60-foot waterfall located near Marsing. This waterfall and swimming hole has become a popular summertime destination and for good reason — it’s hard to find anything that compares to it in Idaho.
To enjoy Jump Creek Falls, you will have to put forth a little effort. To reach this waterfall, you must explore the Jump Creek Falls Trail, which is a 0.6-mile out-and-back hike.
Make sure to bring plenty of water and lots of sunscreen as there is very little shade along this trail.
This hike will take you through the Owyhee Wilderness. The trail is quite easy with very little elevation gain. It is the perfect trail for the entire family.
However, be aware that there is a creek crossing. While generally quite easy, depending on the weather and the time of year, this could become much more difficult and dangerous, particularly for younger children. Also, always be on the lookout for poison ivy that grows along this trail!
In no time at all, you will come to Jump Creek Falls, the largest waterfall in the canyon. It is definitely a gorgeous sight!
Once you arrive, kick off your shoes and hop in the water! The natural swimming hole below the waterfall is the perfect place to cool off and enjoy a hot summer day.
You may want to arrive at Jump Creek early in the day or choose non-peak times to visit as this area can become quite busy. It is also a day-use-only site and is open from sunrise to sunset.
Regardless of when you visit, this waterfall and natural swimming hole in Idaho may become your favorite summer destination.
