All throughout the state, thousands of tiny spring peepers in Delaware are climbing high on tiny wetland branches and singing loud for all to hear.
These little frogs live in marshes, wetlands, and around ponds - which is why they're so prevalent in the First State. Some believe they should be considered the Delaware state frog!
When do spring peepers come out? They first begin to sing early in the season, and continue their chorus throughout May, as they're joined by other chorus frogs. Your backyard might be so loud that it keeps you up at night!
Spring peepers are one of the smallest frogs you'll find in Delaware, but they make quite a mighty sound! Spring peeper sounds are one of the first signs of spring in Delaware.
It may seem like they're putting on a performance for you, but their loud chirps are actually part of nature at play. Only the male frogs sing, as part of their mating ritual.
While you can hear them throughout the day if you find the right wetland area, their chorus is easiest to hear at dusk. Keep an ear out for spring peepers in Delaware, and know that spring is coming when you hear their call!
