It's tucked away in the state's northeastern Quiet Corner, a mostly rural area with several charming small towns. One of these small towns is Pomfret, and it's there that you'll find this 917-acre oasis.

While the swimming area is currently closed for maintenance issues, there's still lots to entertain visitors, like the babbling brook and several historic sites.
There are myriad hiking trails here that are perfect for stretching your legs. Whether you're a novice hiker or a seasoned pro on the trails, there's something for everyone.
One of the park's most noteworthy areas is Wolf's Den, where future Revolutionary War hero Israel Putnam is said to have shot a wolf in 1742. The predator had been devouring local farm animals for years.
You won't find any wolves in the park today, as there are no known wolves in Connecticut.
