Our state's natural beauty isn't just on the surface. Deep in Arkansas' underground resides quite a unique sight. Cosmic Cavern is home to not one but two mysterious bottomless lakes. Let's dive right in and see these spectacular natural wonders. We know you'll agree that they are among the most wonderful
Approximately 400 feet below ground lies a truly unique natural wonder.
This beautiful bottomless lake is part of Cosmic Cavern.
The entire cave tour is hauntingly beautiful.
Cosmic Cavern is rightfully known as "Arkansas' Most Beautifully Decorated Cave." It also has the largest soda straw formations in the Ozarks (over 9 feet long!).
The underground lakes are the largest in the Ozarks.
The lakes are considered bottomless because cave divers have yet to find the bottom to take accurate measurements. The south lake was stocked with trout back in the 1920s. The trout population is still thriving, but because of the cave's conditions, they're now white and blind.
Photos of this mysterious lake are captivating, but this is one wonder you definitely need to see for yourself.
The second lake wasn't discovered until 1993 as part of the "Silent Splendor" room. This is the room that also contains the largest soda straw on record in the Ozarks. Cave tours are a little over an hour long and cover 1/3-mile of the cavern. Tickets are nominally priced, making it a budget-friendly activity.
