You could dedicate the rest of your life to uncovering hidden gems in Arizona and still just barely scratch the surface - but it's worth a try! One more spot to add to your bucket list is Redwall Cavern, a massive sand cave hiding at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The cave, which can hold thousands of people, is only accessible via a paddling trip on the Colorado River, making it the perfect adventure for outdoorsy types.
A hidden gem along the Colorado River at the base of the Grand Canyon, Redwall Cavern has to be among the most underrated natural wonders in the state.
You'll find the cavern at mile 33, but don't worry about having to search for it. Most, if not all rafting trips traverse this stretch of the river, so the leg work has already been done for you.
Near the mouth of the cavern, you can spot marine fossils embedded in the limestone.
You don't have to be an archaeologist to feel awestruck at the sight of such ancient life displayed before your eyes.
From an outside perspective, the cavern appears to be nothing more than a small little grotto formed over eons of water erosion.
To really get a sense of how vast it is, you'll have to hop off your kayak and venture through the semicircle archway into the unknown.
Even pictures taken from the interior don't begin to do the size justice.
The cavern can hold an estimated 50,000 people - that's a larger crowd than most major sports games see!
Looking upstream, the views of the towering canyon walls reflecting on the crystal-clear river waters are mind-bogglingly gorgeous.
Whether or not you're a photographer, you'll definitely want to whip out your camera and capture this picture-perfect scene.
While camping isn't allowed at Redwall Cavern, nobody said anything about epic dance parties!
Baseball and frisbee are also popular activities among visitors to the cave.
So if you feel like you've seen everything Arizona has to offer, travel to the depths of the Grand Canyon and explore this larger-than-life alcove.
Nature is capable of some truly incredible feats!
