Located in Dillion, Montana, Bannack State Park is a historic ghost town that attracts visitors from near and far. Along with being the original location of Montana’s capital, Bannack State Park is the first site where a significant amount of gold was discovered.

Legend has it that Bannack State Park and some of its nearby campgrounds might be haunted, too. It’s possible that some ghost sightings are the former sheriff and two of his deputies who were hanged after being caught leading a gang of robbers stealing gold. Guests visiting the park have also claimed to hear children crying. Other visitors shared that they’ve seen visions of Dorothy Dunn, a teen who drowned in the nearby pond years before.

Nowadays, there are over 60 structures at Bannack State Park that guests can explore. Along with special events and tours, you can even take a ghost walk. After you’ve spent the day at the park, unwind at one of the local campsites. Just keep your ears open and eyes peeled as haunted activity has been reported here too.
