Here are the 10 Safest Cities in Missouri With More Than 10,000 People
We used Movato’s crime statistics to help determine the safest cities in our state. Their methodology involved comparing violent and property crimes per capita, with violent crimes having a stronger influence on score. All cities listed have a population of 10,000 or larger; as you’d expect, smaller towns are often safer. Here are the results.

With a population of 19,339 and growing, this town located south of Springfield is on this list because of its low percentage of violent crimes vs. property crimes. Overall there is a 1 in 51 chance of being victimized in this city.
Another one of the fastest growing cities in Missouri, Raymore (Population: 19,354), located just outside Kansas City is one of the safest towns. There is a 1 in 47 chance that you will be the victim of a crime in this city.
With a population of 12,039 and home to two colleges, you can still feel pretty safe here as there is only a 1 in 53 chance you might run into the criminal element.
Another St. Louis suburb with a population of 17,893 (and neighbor of our #1) has a seriously low proportion of crimes per capita. There is a 1 in 62 chance of being victimized here.
This town has been listed on Money Magazines "Best 100 Places to Live" and we can't disagree based on safety. There is a 1 in 61 chance of becoming a victim here. Not to mention if you are a victim of a crime, 94% of the crimes committed in this city are property crimes and not violent ones . Their percentage per capita of violent crimes is actually quite impressive for a city with a population of 80,670.
With a population of 23,023, Webster Groves is known for being one of the most affluent towns in Missouri. They also have an impressively low amount of property crimes for such a large town. The chance of being a victim of any crime here is 1 in 81.
This suburb of St. Louis is the 14th largest city in the state, and it is well known for its shopping and dining. Perhaps more impressive is the low crime rate. There's only a 1 in 61 chance that you'll be the victim of a crime.
This city makes number two on our list because you have the lowest chance of being a victim here at 1 in 131. For a town of over 30,000, property and crime rates are respectably low.
With the lowest number of violent crimes (only 3!) and only 97 property crimes, this town of 10,833, yet another suburb of St. Louis, has also been named one of the best places to live overall. The population is 10,833, so it's a bit smaller than some of the others, but definitely a great place to live if you want to be safe.
Some of us are country and some of us are city. For the city folks, this might be a good thing to consider when relocating to or visiting an area. As you can see, and of course it’s not a huge surprise, suburbs are great places to live if you want to be closer to a bigger city but want to feel a little safer sending your kids to school or walking down the street.
