What are some of the most dangerous cities in Missouri?

We hate to besmirch the Show-Me State, because we think it’s pretty fantastic (for proof of this, skip ahead to the next question!). But like any state, Missouri has its fair share of problems. The FBI’s most recent statistics, in fact, list the following as the 10 most dangerous cities in Missouri, and we’ve compiled their results for you in this article. But there are some smaller towns, like Branson and Maplewood, that made the list, too.

Is Missouri a dangerous place to live?

No place is perfect, and sadly, Missouri does have its fair share of crime and other safety issues. In fact, according to SafeWise’s 2021 findings, Missouri ranked fairly high in both violent and property crime rates compared to the rest of the United States. The Show-Me State came in eighth for the highest violent crime rate in the U.S. and 12th for the highest property crime rate in the U.S. And the lofty crime rates here haven’t gone unnoticed by Missourians, as 46&% report feeling worried about their personal safety daily. Forty-eight percent were concerned with package theft, for example, while 38 percent worry about violent crime. But the good news? There are plenty of safe places to live in Missouri, and we happen to think the people here are some of the kindest you’ll ever meet!
