These 11 Awesome Diners In Kansas City Will Make You Feel Right At Home
No matter the weather, sometimes you just find yourself wanting something a little simpler than your typical restaurant. Lots of Kansas City eateries like to go bigger and better, but not these diners; they’ve been doing it right for years and don’t need to change a thing! Let’s take a look at some of these awesome diners around town!
During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
1. All American Diner - 753 State Ave., Ste 149, Kansas City, KS
This diner is true to its name, serving up American-style comfort foods every day. They're open 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., so don't expect to catch them for dinner!
2. Chubby's on Broadway - 3756 Broadway Rd., Kansas City, MO
Chubby's embraces the effects of eating diner food all the time, but maybe it's not bad to be a little chubby if you get to eat such great food all the time! They've been in business for 25 years, and we don't see them changing any time soon.
3. Harold's Drive In - 1337 Admiral Blvd., Kansas City, MO
Dating back to the 1950s, this little joint takes fast food back to the good ol' days. They only accept cash and close after lunch, but the prices are more than fair and their breakfasts are divine.
4. Jim's Diner - 6901 Prospect Ave., Kansas City, MO
Do you like bacon cheeseburgers? Order one here. This isn't a sit-down restaurant, so you'll need to take your food elsewhere to eat it, but you can also call in ahead of time to make pickup a breeze.
5. Leed's Diner - 6422 Stadium Dr., Kansas City, MO
In addition to great burgers and other classic diner dishes, you'll find homemade pies that will have you begging for the recipe. They close after lunch as well, but the time crunch is well worth the outcome.
6. Max's Burgers & Gyros - 8240 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO
This place may look a little divey, but once you get past the exterior, you'll find that the taste outweighs anything your eyes are seeing. Plus, the seating outdoors is a must if the weather is nice.
7. Nelle Belle's Diner - 150 E US Hwy. 69, Kansas City, MO
Nelle Belle's is a true old-style diner in that it does allow smoking, but otherwise ,the food is exactly like it would have been served years ago. The building itself is also really interesting to look at, if you couldn't tell already.
8. Niecie's Restaurant - 6441 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO
This amazing diner specialized in soul food, and you'll find that you're served fast and with a smile. They've been operating for 30 years, and you can tell every recipe has been perfected. You simply cannot leave unless you've tried the sweet potato pie, which has been referred to as "a religious experience" by fans.
9. The City Diner - 301 Grand Blvd., Kansas City, MO
Diner food is as diner food does, but you'll find this place serving some great biscuits and gravy alongside plenty of other breakfast options. Make sure to grab a cinnamon roll before you go!
10. Town Topic - 2021 Broadway St., Kansas City, MO
Town Topic is probably one of the most popular burger joints in town, and this little diner knows exactly what it's doing. The prices are a little higher than others, but the quality of the food they serve is worth it. Plus, they're open 24 hours a day!
11. Winstead's - 101 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd., Kansas City, MO
Steakburgers are a favorite of mine, and you'll find some of the best at Winstead's, right next to a milkshake the size of your forearm (a.k.a. a Skyscraper). Add in an order of onion rings and you're guaranteed to have a heavenly meal.
After you fill up on retro diner food, you should definitely take a step back into childhood and
check out some of these candy shops found right here in KC.
