It’s getting colder, so what better way to celebrate the weather than enjoy a nice walk through the park or hang out in the snow? Plenty of areas around Kansas City will keep you warm, but is being cold all that bad if you get to see views like these? Here’s some great places to enjoy this winter, even if it’s snowing.

From Thanksgiving until New Year's Eve, you can enjoy the lights show at Longview Lake, where you can take the family for a night of magic. What better way to find an excuse for hot chocolate?

There are only three fountains that run year-round, but they're just so beautiful as they completely freeze over.

Not only is ice skating fun and romantic, doing it outside surrounded by holiday lights makes it even better. There's nothing that says "holiday" like skating on ice with your loved ones.

Every year, when the snow falls and the water freezes, we get to bask in the beauty of this waterfall frozen in place. They also have luminary walks every year, where the cold ground is lit up with candles along the path. It's just gorgeous!

Can you imagine getting to see the penguins out of their enclosure to enjoy the snow on the ground? Their Penguin Marches are very popular, and they are scheduled in late November and through December.

The lighting of the trees here at Powell Gardens is made possible by KCP&L, and they've got a great plan for it. The lights are botanically themed that begin at the garden and wind through six of the themed gardens. Doesn't that sound amazing?

On the weekends, you can see themed Christmas rooms dressed up to represent many different cultures, each displayed in their own room.
8. Sledding down “Suicide Hill”
This great video by YouTube user Daniel Westra really shows just how to enjoy Suicide Hill if we get enough snow. Make sure you have a sturdy sled, because this hill is killer. Woohoo!
