The last thing you’d expect to find along a 12-mile trail deep within a forest is an abandoned POW camp, but that’s exactly the case with this unique trail. Established in the 1700s, it should come as no surprise that Natchez is home to more than 1,000 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Luckily, many of the city’s historic structures are open for tours, making Natchez a perfect day trip destination. A great way to see the city is with a double-decker bus tour, which leads to over 40 historic buildings, homes, and churches.
