Minnesota is home to some truly spectacular waterfalls. The most popular, such as Gooseberry or the High Falls of the Pigeon and Baptism Rivers, are along the North Shore. Further south, Minnehaha and Minneopa Falls are busy spots, as is Hidden Falls at Nerstrand Big Woods State Park. And in Minnesota’s southwestern corner, Winnewissa Falls draws crowds. Each of these waterfalls is so popular, in part, because they’re so easy to get to. Walking down a short trail — usually in a state park — is all that it takes to visit most of these spots.

But what about Minnesota’s lesser-known waterfalls, the ones that are a little harder to get to? Today, we want to introduce one hidden waterfall that is so out of the way, most people have never seen it in person. Read on below to learn more about Kawishiwi Falls.

Have you ever visited Kawishiwi Falls? What are your other favorite waterfalls in Minnesota? Let us know in the comments! And if you’re looking for more lesser-known waterfalls in Minnesota, take a trip to Prairie Falls or Minnemishinona Falls.
