In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms. Mainers, we know that your first love is lobster. And while we’re not trying to minimize the importance of the many-legged crustacean in our lives, we do think some other foods are worthy of our attention. We’ve got great burgers, we’ve got great ice cream and we’ve got great BBQ. But, there’s one more thing worth talking about: Bacon! This bacon restaurant in Maine has everything that bacon dreams are made of!
A bacon themed restaurant might be unexpected in a state that reveres all things seafood.
But, bacon actually isn't all that different from lobster when you think about it! Both foods have a cult-like following and they're both worth dedicating an entire meal to. And when you do: House of Bacon in Auburn is the place to do it!
The burger gets rave reviews and also comes with an almost unbelievable amount of bacon. Did we mention that there are more than ten different varieties of bacon to choose from? Even those with vegan diets will have something to choose from.
House of Bacon is located at 34 Court St. in Auburn, Maine. Check them out on Facebook or visit their website. You can also give them a call on (207) 200-8057. They’re open Wednesday and Thursday 8am to 7pm, Friday and Saturday 8am to 10pm and Sunday 8am to 2pm.
Another thing that Maine does well? Outdoor, dockside dining! Check out these epic spots this summer to enjoy the outdoors and a meal.
