1) Leatherwood Museum, 202 E. 7th Ave., Oakdale

First stop on this epic trip, the Leatherwood Museum in Oakdale. The building here was built in 1888 and is home to a variety of treasures including a military room, a doll collection, and a tiger oak bed/dresser set. You are sure to discover something special here.

2) Koasatti Pines and Coushatta Casino, 300 Koasati Dr, Kinder

This luxurious resort property includes acres of wetlands in a Koasatti pine forest, where one of the most beautiful golf courses in Louisiana is found, a crown jewel of Allen Parish.

3) CM Farms, 200 John Broussard Rd, Dry Creek

Next stop, check out CM Farms. Right around this time of year they have their annual corn maze celebrations, attracting crowds from around the state. There are a lot of other awesome things to explore, including the historic Turner farm house found here.

4) Lois Lofton Doll Museum, 120 S. Washington Ave., DeRidder

As you continue to pass through the DeRidder area, check out this unique collection of dolls, or what the Cajuns call, "bebelles", that numbers over 3,000. Right next door you'll find the Beauregard Parish Museum which details all of the history of this area.

5) The Gothic Jail, 412 Mayeaux Dr., DeRidder

This legendary building is known for its unique architecture and is one of the only gothically built parish jails in the country. It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places and this year they feature a haunted walk through the jail.

6) Museum of the New Llano Colony, 211 Stanton St, New Llano

Learn about the utopian ideals of the New Llano community which was founded in the early 20th century in this area of Louisiana. The community thrived here until the Great Depression hit, and you'll learn all about their way of life here. It's fascinating!

7) Museum of West Louisiana, 3rd Street, Leesville, Vernon Parish

Found in Leesville, this museum includes a fine collectiong of railroad memorabilia, clothing, household items, all found around Pioneer Park which is an awesome place to hang around after the museum.

8) Burr Ferry Confederate Breastworks, Hwy 8., Burr's Ferry

This tiny area was once a thruway for Union troops wanting to pass through Louisiana to Texas, and soldiers built breastworks around the area, allowing locals to travel safely while providing defensive blocks of enemies were found here.
