Dine In A Historic Horse Country House At This Farm-To-Table Restaurant In Kentucky
There are lots of charming places to dine in Kentucky Horse Country, but none quite like Limewater. This delightful bistro and bar is located in the Glen Willis House, a historic Kentucky farmstead from 1815 that’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and one of the most beautiful places in the Bluegrass State.
Limewater is a bistro and bar located in the Glen Willis House, a historic farmstead in Frankfort. As this restaurant is right on the Kentucky River *and* Kentucky Bourbon Trail, Limewater certainly has location on its side.
But this restaurant is so much more than its prime location. It's a lovely destination for food, drinks, community, and celebration. It's an homage to Kentucky herself!
While the inside of this beautiful restaurant is definitely on the fancier end of the spectrum, Limewater has adopted a decidedly Southern sensibility, encouraging guests to "come as they are" and not worry about dress codes or airs!
The menu reflects this hospitable spirit, too, offering Southern comfort classics with a twist. This is the Lunch BLT, a hand-held sandwich that's stacked high with crispy bacon, crunchy lettuce, and heirloom tomatoes from Florence, Kentucky. It's served on homemade focaccia with a house-made lemon aioli.
Brunch is similarly informal-yet-elegant. While the presentation of this breakfast plate is definitely next-level, its contents -- steak and eggs, home fries -- are just like what you'd get at Grandma's!
Finish your meal with something sweet. If you're in the mood for a cocktail, the Cobbler is a delicious dessert libation that's a spirited celebration of all things Kentucky. It features Four Roses bourbon, apricot brandy, peach puree, and a caramelized rim that's reminiscent of buttery cobbler crust.
Have you been to Limewater before? There’s no place in Kentucky quite like this farm-to-table restaurant, and we hope you have the pleasure of dining there soon!
