A Steakhouse Has Opened In This Historic Washington Train Depot And You’ll Want To Eat Your Next Meal There

For generations, Walla Walla's train depot was the city's front door. Last fall, the space was transformed into a high-end steakhouse complete with an onsite brewery. The next time you're in Washington wine country, you'll definitely want to enjoy a meal in this historic spot.

The historic depot served as several restaurants before Walla Walla Steak Company and Crossbuck Brewing took it over.

The building is located at 416 N 2nd Avenue.

The restaurant itself is modern, but there are still plenty of the depot's original details, like brick walls and worn floors.

This is meant to be a space for locals and visitors to gather and enjoy a warm, welcoming environment with delicious food and good conversation.

The steakhouse is part of Fire & Vine Hospitality and its Revelers Club loyalty program, both led by a team of hospitality veterans with deep local roots.

Fire & Vine is the brand behind the El Gaucho steakhouse chain in the Seattle area, although the concept here is a little different.

The beef comes from Cattle Company Beef in Spokane, and most of the ingredients in the entrees are local.

The culinary team is led by executive chef Chad Bostwick, a graduate of Walla Walla's Wine Country Culinary Institute and a lifelong Washingtonian.

Everything is cooked over a custom charcoal grill and wood-fired oven.

The hearty entrees include Tenderloin Medallions (pictured here) and Fire Roasted King Salmon.

Walla Walla is known for its wine, and there's plenty of that here. But the beer served here is local -- very local.

The steakhouse shares a space with Crossbuck Brewing, where beer is brewed onsite.

For a unique experience, you can even enjoy your steak in the historic rail car.

Walla Walla Steak Company is open Tuesday - Sunday from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. (10 on Fridays and Saturdays).

They do take reservations, which are recommended on weekends.
