The Overstuffed Sandwiches From This South Carolina Deli Are the Stuff of Dreams

A laidback neighborhood deli in Columbia offers some of the most mouthwatering sandwiches in all of South Carolina.

When you're in the mood for a true deli experience, there's nothing quite like a sandwich piled sky-high with all your favorite ingredients. We all know that sandwiches are better when someone else makes them (why is that?). Luckily for us here in South Carolina, we have No Name Deli, a fantastic neighborhood eatery with two locations in Columbia. From mouthwatering sandwiches to made-to-order burgers, there's something for every sandwich enthusiast at No Name Deli. So bring your friends, bring your appetite, and prepare to be absolutely blown away by these deli creations.

No Name Deli got its start over three decades ago when it opened up its first storefront off Elmwood Avenue. It was originally called Elmwood Delicatessen, but there wasn't any signage on the restaurant's building, so people kept referring to it as the "deli with no name." The moniker stuck, and the deli officially rebranded as No Name Deli.

Despite its local popularity, the restaurant is still considered to be quite a hidden gem, continuing to capture the hearts of unsuspecting visitors. When you set foot inside, you'll discover all the trappings of an old-school deli, but it also has a refreshed modern feel. When you're ready to order, grab a tray and head to the front and as you inch your way down the line, you can order your custom sandwich, salad, and drink choice. If you see a long line when you arrive, don't be too discouraged; they've got ordering down to a science and you likely won't be waiting longer than ten minutes before it's your turn to order!

There are a few things that No Name Deli is known for: consistency, quality, and generous portions. The Reuben is a favorite, with many enthusiastic reviewers claiming it to be the best they've ever tried. Another popular order is the classic club sandwich. If you're looking for something a bit outside of your typical deli experience, you can choose from a variety of custom burgers with creative toppings, such as pimento cheese.

As for sides, there are usually a few homemade soups on the menu and they are all fantastic. No Name Deli is also famous for its shoestring fries, which complement about anything on the menu.

So if it's a quality sandwich you're after, you really can't beat this local Columbia institution. Orders can be places ahead of time or to be enjoyed at the deli — there's ample seating for a busy lunch crowd. For more information, head on over to the official No Name Deli website. The deli is open Mondays - Fridays from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
