We don’t know anyone who wouldn't agree that straight from the farm is always better. It means the freshest ingredients and we all appreciate the impact that has on flavor. We tend to think about this primarily with foods, but it’s the case with beverages as well. And you’re going to love the unique brewery in South Carolina we found where you can have an epic farm-to-glass experience.
Carolina Bauernhaus has two locations, one on Perry Avenue in the Poe West development in Greenville (pictured) and the original on Federal Street in Anderson. Even its name tells part of its story, with "Bauernhaus" being German for "farmhouse." Tip: Bauernhaus is pronounced "bow-urn-house," but many just go with "barn-house."
And the story begins at the vine, or in the case as pictured here, at the bush. These are Nanking cherries, grown as an ingredient in the brewery's delicious Nanking Cider Seltzer.
Carolina Bauernhaus opened in 2015 with a mission to produce beer made from South Carolina products and with every production step also entirely within the state. The Happy Berry Farm is located in Six Mile!
It's a great feeling to find such good-looking grapes on the vine!
Because when the end product reaches this point at the tap, you know the taste will be superb. The brewery offers an indoor bar and tasting area with craft beer on tap, bottled options, wine, and mead.
You'll experience friendly service with a smile, along with assistance if you need help finding a beer you like.
A flight is a great option for a sampling of your choice of beers, meads, or ciders. You may discover a new favorite while getting a nice variety.
There is also some great bar food to have with your drinks, including food truck options from time to time. Pictured here is gourmet mac 'n cheese from Mac Attack.
Here you see a Sunday charcuterie special... yum!
The rustic, industrial atmosphere inside is comfortable and a perfect place for gathering with friends or perhaps meeting some new ones.
Although, when the weather is nice, you may find a cozy hammock spot to sink into outdoors... you may just end up staying all day long if you arrive early!
There's a good chance you could also have live entertainment to enjoy, too. What better way to end the day?
