Cool Off With A Frozen Wine Slushie At The Deep Water Vineyard In South Carolina

Deep Water Vineyard in South Carolina offers a unique wine-tasting experience with self-guided tours, farm animals, and a vodka distillery.

South Carolina is home to a number of vineyards and wineries, but none of them quite compare to this delightful vineyard nestled alongside the Wadmalaw River just 20 minutes south of Charleston on Wadmalaw Island. It's open year-round and features self-guided tours of the property, where you can wander the land like you own the place while enjoying the spoils of this carefully cultivated slice of paradise. Come along as we extol the virtues of the amazing Deep Water Vineyard in South Carolina.

Deep Water Vineyard has seven miles of vines to explore on foot and on your own.

The property is absolutely gorgeous, and as we said before, only a short drive from Charleston. With 48 acres to explore, you can spend all morning, or all day, here!

Pop in for a nominally price wine tasting that includes several of the winery's finewines.

In the heat of the South Carolina summer, ask for the frozen slushie! It's an ideal way to sample the whites and a great way to stay cool on a heated day.

The free self-guided tour is a wonderful way to see a winery of this caliber.

Deep Water Vineyards is the only domestic winery in the Charleston area and belongs on the bucket list when visiting Charleston or Beaufort.

The large estate is located right on the Wadmalaw River as it winds toward the Atlantic Ocean...

... and just before it spills into the ocean at Edisto Island. You won't see the river from the winery's tasting room, but you may get glimpses of this gorgeous view as you arrive at the winery.

As you wander around the property, you'll find a number of farm animals.

The goats, in particular, are always up to something hilarious.

Don't forget to visit the gift shop before you leave.

Here you'll find a variety of wine-related items for sale.

Also don't forget to sit and relax on the lovely patio under the shade trees.

Deep Water Vineyard is also home to one of the South's best vodka distilleries: Firefly Vodka. And yes, there's a tasting room for that too! The winery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Feel free to bring your dog - as long as it's leashed. Learn more on the Deep Water Vineyard website as well as the Deep Water Vineyard Facebook page!
