They use only fresh, local ingredients in their sandwiches and you can taste the difference! They've even made Bon Appetit's Top 10 in the Nation.

3. Peppers Philly Steaks and Pizza, Myrtle Beach, SC

They have loads of choices for you to choose from, but I would suggest the killer Meatball Parm or Philly Steak...just scrumptious!

4. Beezer's Gourmet Sandwich Shop, Columbia, SC

Who can resist crisp bacon on a sandwich? Beezer's makes the best BLT's around! This is also a really good shop for the students of USC as it's super close to the campus.

5. Butcher & Bee, Charleston, SC

Charleston is known for their use of local ingredients and this shop is no exception. They put a spin on things with their inventive combinations. you're unlikely to find anywhere else.

6. Alvin Ord's Sandwich Shop, Port Royal, SC

Man, this shop has been making people happy for a very long time. They take the best bread and make it crispy and then assure the cheese is full of melty goodness. They pile it high with fresh ingredients and loads of meat. The large can actually feed two!

7. Ye Olde Sandwich Shoppe, Seneca, SC

Sometimes there can be a wait, but it's worth it! The food is fresh and delicious, but they don't just serve sandwiches.; they put forth loads of effort to ensure great customer service as well!

8. Greenville Roly Poly, Greenville, SC

Fresh, light, rolled sandwiches that make you feel good. They aren't too heavy and really hit the spot.

9. Philly's Cheesesteaks, Summerville, SC

It's a a no-frills kind of place when it comes to furnishings, but you couldn't tell by their sandwiches. They specialize in Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches and actually ship their beef in from Philadelphia!

10. Stu's Surf Side, Hilton Head, SC

What makes this place special? Homemade bread! That's right...it's homemade and they must be doing it right because everyone can't stop talking about this sub shop!

11. The Grilled Cheese & Crab Cake, Murrell's Inlet, SC

This place is making some of the most inventive grilled cheese sandwiches around. They have this grilled cheese and lobster tail sandwich that is to die for! There are many more choices and all of them are amazing.

12. The Earl of Sandwich Pub, Hilton Head, SC

This place may be small, but there's nothing small about their character or their sandwiches! Try the Reuben and the crispy shoestring fries.

13. Toffino's Italian Bakery & Deli - Myrtle Beach & Mt. Pleasant

This authentic Italian restaurant has some of the best sandwiches you'll ever eat! Fresh sliced pepperoni, salami, capicola, and that's not all, they offer amazing pastries for dessert!

14. The Southern General, John's Island, SC

This is not your typical sandwich shop. They're doing things here that will absolutely stun you. If you ever get to go (please do) you should try the J.I.3 Sandwich. It comes with candied pork belly and a sweet potato cream cheese. Believe me, you won't be disappointed with that choice.

15. Bebba's Steaks & Hoagies, Aiken, SC

Looks good doesn't it? Yea, I think so too! Everything is made to order and hot when it gets to you. They're family-owned and the service is great! **Note they are now in Aiken Mall**

16. Summa Joe's Searing Pans, Anderson, SC

Might have to wait to be seated because it is a busy place, but that tells you something about the food! They use only the freshest, local ingredients and the food is on point every single time.

17. Carolina Drug Store, Darlington, SC

I know, you're probably asking yourself, why is this place on here? And, you probably think that I've completely lost my mind. No, I haven't. Sometimes the best things in life are in the most unexpected places and this store is serving up awesome sandwiches, simple, but awesome. Good, southern, down home goodness that you can't find anywhere else. I'll let you know that they make one mean chicken salad sandwich...yummm!

I haven't even tried to rank these sandwich shops because they're all so good they'd all be #1. Sandwiches have really come a long way.
