While the Big Boy restaurant chain has tons of locations across the United States and hundreds in Japan, most of them share a pretty common theme. They are casual sit-down restaurants that serve primarily burgers and other classic American food. Out of all these locations and franchises, there is only one in North Dakota, and that particular one is the most unique Big Boy in the country. This place has become a local favorite for things that other Big Boy restaurants just don't have.
Big Boy Restaurant (also known as a variety of other names, such as Bob's Big Boy) is a restaurant chain with many locations both nationally and internationally. Here's what a typical Big Boy looks like.
This Big Boy Restaurant is in Ohio, the location of one of the two headquarters. Big Boy restaurants are very similar to other casual sit-down restaurants in America. You can expect meals, such as burgers and fries, diner-style breakfasts, and shakes and malts.
North Dakota's only Big Boy is located in the capital city of Bismarck and certainly looks nothing like the others - and the differences go beyond looks!
North Dakota Big Boy is exclusively a drive-thru.
The food this Big Boy serves is completely unique other than the two classic burgers: the Classic Big Boy and Super Big Boy.
Instead of a bun, you can get your Big Boy burger "flying style," or "flying sauce style" on toasted flat bread - this is the only Big Boy restaurant that sells the sandwiches "flying style."
Instead of chocolate malts, try one of the Big Boy Freezes which come in quite a few flavors with such toppings as candy or cookies mixed in at the most unique Big Boy in ND.
Other than the tell-tale Big Boy statue out front, you might not even have been able to tell this was a Big Boy at all.
From the outside to the way you order, and the food you're ordering, this particular Big Boy Restaurant certainly stands out among the hundreds of others out there.
You can learn more about this unique restaurant on the Big Boy Restaurant website.
