Schnitzel Haus was opened by Fred and Amber Urban in 2007. The restaurant is based around two generations of tested, beloved family recipes. For those looking to taste what classic German country cooking tastes like, Schnitzel Haus will not disappoint.

When it comes to the food at Schnitzel Haus, we recommend that diners take heed of the name on the sign, and order some schnitzel. Within those parameters, there is plenty to choose from. We love the classic Jaeger Schnitzel, which features breaded pork cutlets, fried with a brown mushroom Hunter sauce and served with German home fries and a salad.

The vibe, too, is authentic and cozy. Diners will feel like they stepped out of Brooklyn altogether, and stepped into Deutschland!

Sausage fans, rejoice! For those who don’t want to get schnitzel, there are plenty of other great options on the menu, including some great sausages. We love the classic bratwurst, which is grilled and presented with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes.

Lovers of German beer will also find quite a bit to love here. Schnitzel Haus boasts ten separate draft lines of German beers, and an even bigger selection of bottled German and Belgian beverages.

There’s also live music every single weekend! On Wednesday night, there are super fun bingo and trivia contests. They start at seven in the evening.

The proprietors of this establishment say that they strongly recommend potential diners make reservations for Friday and Saturday night.

For a great, authentic German meal anywhere in New York City—or New York State, for that matter—it would be hard to beat Schnitzel Haus. So make the trip today! While in Brooklyn, why not also check out Brooklyn Flea, which we think is the best flea market in the city. And for those looking for a hotel around Bay Ridge, we recommend Wyndham Garden, Brooklyn Sunset Park.
