The Outdoor Cafe in New York That Is The Prettiest Place To Enjoy A Warm Afternoon

The weather is getting warmer, and the days are getting longer. So, why not enjoy some time outdoors with a cup of coffee? We can't think of a better way to spend a spring or summer morning or afternoon than relaxing at an outdoor cafe with a latte and a bite to eat. When it comes to outdoor cafes in New York, and especially upstate, we think that Iron Gate Cafe in Albany is truly special. It might just be the best outdoor cafe in Albany. To learn more, keep reading, below.

The family-owned and operated Iron Gate Cafe has been going strong for going on two decades—it was established in 2004.

The restaurant is situated in downtown Albany inside of Central Square. It’s a great place for breakfast, lunch, or brunch, especially outside on their garden patio.

The atmosphere is great at Iron Gate, but so is the food. We highly recommend their French toast for breakfast! For lunch and brunch, there are plenty of salad, sandwiches, and vegan options. Do not sleep on their bowl of clam chowder!

Then there’s the coffee! A meal at the Iron Gate is great, but it’s also a nice spot for a cup of coffee in a pleasant environment. We love their lattes.

Want to sit inside? No problem! The Iron Gate Cafe has a beautiful indoor dining room.

There is plenty more to discover at this great cafe, including a nice selection of beer and wine. More than anything else, though, it's their patio that shines.

This spring and summer, we think New Yorkers should treat themselves to a little quality dining time, and enjoy a quality meal—or, simply a great up of coffee—outdoors at the Iron Gate Cafe in Albany. While in the area, why not also check out this man-made swimming hole, which we really think it something special. And for those looking for a place to stay in Albany, we recommend Hampton Inn Albany-Western Ave/University Area.
