To live in a world in which chicken wings serve no true purpose sounds unbearable, luckily we can thank the great city of Buffalo for giving us the creation of Buffalo wings. While the true origin of Buffalo wings is a vague mystery to some, most will tell you the birthplace of this New York favorite was in the 1960s at Anchor Bar, located in Buffalo, New York. In the past 50 years, the people of New York have created many of their own personal takes on the legendary Buffalo wing. Check out the variety of places we've featured below on our list:

1. Anchor Bar, Buffalo

Starting off our list with where it all began, Anchor Bar! So well-known you may have seen the Birthplace of Buffalo Wings on your T.V., Anchor Bar has always been credited for creating the delicious menu item. Loved widely for always providing its customers with juicy and uniquely flavorful wings, this chart topper is an absolute must for any true fan of Buffalo Wings.

2. Duff's Famous Wings

With locations not only in New York but also Texas and Ontario, Duff's Famous Wings are adored from far and wide. Constantly raved about for having the utmost perfectly crispy wings, President Obama himself had to make a surprise appearance just to get a taste!

3. Dinosaur Bar-B-Que

Opening up its business in 1983, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que now has 10 locations in the United States from Buffalo to Brooklyn, and even Chicago and Baltimore. With longtime customers and a way of cooking meat that never disappoints, it's easy to see how Dinosaur Bar-B-Que has expanded so much.

4. Bar Bill Tavern, East Aurora

5. Gabriel's Gate, Buffalo

A main competitor with Duff's Famous and Anchor Bar, Gabriel's Gate offers its customers amazingly hot and large sized wings.

6. The Ruck, Troy

An Upstate New York favorite, The Ruck regulars come here to create their own piece of paradise with a plate of wings and delicious beer. This past year after performing a show in Albany, comedian Dave Chapelle stopped by The Ruck to see all that it has to offer before he left town. Need to hear another perk? 7. Bonnie's Grill, Brooklyn

Located right in Park Slope and created by two Western New Yorkers, it should come as no surprise to find out they only serve Buffalo-style sauce for their wings. One of the wonderful perks of getting wings at Bonnie's Grill is that you can finish off your wings with a can of Genesee Beer or Cream Ale! Yum!

8. The Old Union Hotel, Binghamton

Established in the late 1800s, The Old Union Hotel is favored by many for its Monday Night wing special. Bringing to you large size wings that are always juicy, you'll find yourself coming back to Binghamton for more.

9. Bombers Burrito Bar, Capitol Region

11. Time Warp Tavern, Watertown

Located near the Canadian border, this tavern carries the famous wing sauce Black Betty. On Tuesday's, Time Warp Tavern offers a wing special so you can flood your mouth with the wonderful flavors of bacon and garlic they have wrapped up in their wings.
