Did you know that New Jersey was home to dozens of incredible wineries, all throughout the state? If not, you're welcome! If you did know, but aren't sure where to go, consider starting with one of these gems. South Jersey actually has its own "wine trail" to explore, though the following wineries are located across New Jersey. Some are on the wine trail, some aren't - all are worth a visit.
1. Southwind Vineyard, Deerfield Township
This dog-friendly vineyard and winery offers affordable tastings and incredible events. They offer yoga classes on Saturday for just $10 and each includes a post-workout glass of Sangria or Grape Kiss!
2. Beneduce Vineyards, Pittstown
This local favorite gained international fame with their award-winning ‘Barrel Fermented’ Chardonnay. Beneduce offers many incredible wines and they offer you the opportunity to make your own. If you'd like to give them a try, buy your tickets now for the Vintage North Jersey Wine Tour on August 15th and 16th.
3. Peppadew Fresh Vineyards, Morganville
Peppadew Vineyards offers weekend tastings and is also available for private events. What makes it most interesting is that the farm is the only U.S. producer of the recently discovered Peppadew fruit.
4. Renault WInery, Egg Harbor City
Renault Winery is an ideal destination for a day-trip or long weekend. There is a resort and golf course on the property and the winery hosts regular events including grape stomping festivals and painting parties. Renault is also the oldest winery in the state!
5. Salem Oak Vineyards, Pedricktown
Salem Oak offers monthly line dancing classes, weekly potlucks and yoga in the vineyards!
6. Melovino Meadery, Vauxhall
Though not a winery per se, Melovino is New Jersey's first meadery. Mead is very similar to wine, but made with honey. Melovino is open to the public for tastings and tours.
7, Cava Winery, Hamburg
This hip winery features live music and free tours of the vineyards.
8. Cream Ridge Winery, Cream Ridge
I suppose I would consider Cream Ridge to be my spirit-winery. They have yoga + pizza nights (with wine, of course) and will be hosting a "Good Karma Day" tomorrow, July 25th!
9. Four Sisters Winery, Belvidere
This winery offers tastings, tours and tons of events! Choose from car shows, corn mazes and music festivals! If you really love the place, you can stay forever - it is currently for sale as the owner of 33 years is retiring.
10. Hawk Haven Vineyard, Rio Grande
The southernmost winery in New Jersey, Hawk Haven is a haven for wine lovers. For $25, enjoy a guided tour, wine and cheese tasting and souvenir wine glass!
