The Celebrity-Owned Burdick’s Is One Of The Best Places To Grab A Bite To Eat In New Hampshire

There's one restaurant in Walpole, however, that is partly owned by someone whose work you may be familiar with.

American filmmaker Ken Burns is known for his award-winning documentary films and TV series that chronicle the history and culture of the United States.

In 1979, the small town of Walpole, New Hampshire became home to Burns. He purchased an 1820s farmhouse as an environment to work on his projects.

Since 2001, Burns has also been a silent partner with chocolatier Larry Burdick in The Restaurant at Burdick's.

Formerly home to a grocery store, Burns' main goal in investing in the restaurant was to fill the empty space left behind when the grocery store moved.

The Restaurant at Burdick's is modeled after classic French bistros. Their menu items consist of seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients.

The restaurant acts as an anchor of sorts in the center of Walpole, which is a walkable community based around independent small businesses.

Dining here is an intimate experience. There are only 12 tables and large windows offer views of Walpole's downtown.
