11 Under The Radar Restaurants In Missouri That Are Scrumdiddlyumptious

Discover hidden gem restaurants that offer surprising and delightful dining experiences.

One of the best things about going out to eat is discovering hidden gems that you didn't even know existed. Some may look unassuming on the outside, but after you take a bite into your meal, you'll be blown away.

1. Sunisa's Thai Restaurant - St. Peter's

Sunisa's is hidden in a strip mall in St. Peter's, but this Thai spot is as authentic as they come.

Address:

6057 Mid Rivers Mall Dr.

St Peters, MO 63304

2. Pappo's Pizzeria and Pub - Osage Beach

Craft pizza AND craft beer? Now that's what I'm talking about. Pappo's specializes in both and you'll be surprised of some of the toppings that come on their pizzas.

Address:

4705 Osage Beach Pkwy.

Osage Beach, MO 65065

3. Hayden Drive-In - Poplar Bluff

Most people head to Kansas City for BBQ, but I'd say Hayden's can definitely hold their own. Once you're done, wash it down with some of their refreshing ice cold lemonade.

Address:

807 W Maud St.

Poplar Bluff, MO 63901

4. Der Essen Platz - Camdenton

You'll feel like you're in Germany when you walk into Der Essen Platz. I recommend trying out their delicious potato pancakes, which are incredibly hard to come by, especially at most American-style diners.

Address:

8 Bridal Cave Rd.

Camdenton, MO 65020

5. Nico’Z Catering & Eatery - Chillicothe

When you think gourmet food, Chillicothe probably isn't the first place that comes to mind. But head over to Nico'Z and you'll be living the high life when it comes to 5-star meals.

Address:

612 2nd St.

Chillicothe, MO 64601

6. Avenues Bistro - Kansas City

Kansas City is full of mouthwatering breakfast joints, but Avenues is a favorite of mine. It gets pretty fancy at night, but their breakfasts are extremely reasonable and they have bottomless mimosas.

Address:

338 W. 63rd St.

Kansas City, MO 64113

7. Cowan's Restaurant - Washington

Cowan's is home to the "Mile High Pie" and some of the best fried chicken in Missouri. Come for breakfast or lunch, but stay for the amazing desserts.

Address:

114 Elm St.

Washington, MO 63090

8. Ms. Kim’s Fish & Chicken Shack - Columbia

Ms. Kim's doesn't look like much, but their fried catfish and hush puppies are insanely good. With a low-priced menu, you really can't go wrong.

Address:

711 Vandiver Dr A Columbia, MO 65202

9. Grbic Restaurant - St. Louis

Try something new at Grbic Restaurant. This beautifully designed restaurant serves the best Bosnian food in the city.

Address:

4071 Keokuk St.

St. Louis, MO 63116

10. Luigi's - Warrensburg

As a pro tip, I recommend dining at Luigi's on a Wedneday, during "Wine Wednesdays." Wine is half off, and who doesn't enjoy a little vino with their delicious Italian meal?

Address:

121 E. Pine St.

Warrensburg, MO 64093

11. Happy Gillis Hangout Cafe & Hangout - Kansas City

From the outside, Happy Gillis looks like a dive, but the food is truly something special. Stop by for breakfast or break for lunch at this hidden gem in Columbus Park.

Address:

549 Gillis St.

Kansas City, MO 64106
