The Best Cakes In Missouri Are Served Up At This Incredible Small Town Bakery

For over 25 years, husband-and-wife team Brenda and Kerry have served gorgeous cakes to the small town of Ozark, Missouri. When they started in 1998, they were one of the only food establishments in the town. This small town bakery in Ozark, Missouri is inside their antique mall, Spring Creek Antiques, about a 20-minute drive from the state's third largest city, Springfield. They have watched the town of Ozark grow up around them.

Brenda and Kerry have built an impressive Facebook following that totals over half the town's population. I loved looking at their stunning layer cakes and featured specials on their page. Without a website, I called and spoke to Kerry himself to learn more about Spring Creek Tea Room. He mentioned that his wife, Brenda, probably wouldn’t admit to her wide range of talents, but she has nearly 170 different recipes for her various confections!

Brenda makes nine cakes daily! How could one ever decide what to get? Let's close our eyes and point. I love surprises.

The thing about cake, ya’ll, is that it does not photograph well once cut! Especially these beauties, they are so moist that they start crumbling before they reach your mouth.

The owners source as much produce possible for the tea room from local merchants. It shows, several cakes per day feature seasonal produce.

These fresh items are also found in their soups, salads, and sandwiches. Those menus rotate, too. We’re told they have over 50 soup recipes!

The shabby chic pastry case reflects the antique mall's influence. The tea room is also adorable, with antique dining furniture and umbrellas hanging from the ceiling.

Kerry believes one of the things that has made them thrive in the community is their relationship with other antique mall owners. Other proprietors send business their way; it pays to do business in a small town.

If you’re not a regular cake person, three cheesecakes are usually on the menu daily.

Kerry believes part of their success is due to their decades of experience working in grocery stores and being hands-on with baking and food prepping. Brenda has baked most of the tea room’s cakes for over 20 years, but now she is training staff to master her time-tested recipes.
