Everyone Should Try The Blue Crab Beignets From La Petite Grocery In New Orleans
La Petite Grocery in New Orleans offers a unique savory twist on traditional beignets with their famous blue crab beignets.
You can't think of beignets without thinking of New Orleans. This iconic duo has a long relationship that has certainly stood the test of time. While the traditional beignet is a sweet treat dusted in powdered sugar, there's one timeless restaurant that's putting a savory spin on these sweet treats, and you should try one.
Tucked away on Magazine Street in a century-old Creole cottage La Petite Grocery has been a favorite for many in the Uptown area for 15 years.
But the history of the building goes back much further. The name of the restaurant is a tribute to the building’s beginning as a grocery store in the late 1800s.
The humble little store was ideal for locals looking to grab groceries for the day. A fire sadly destroyed the original building in 1908, but a new one was rebuilt in the same location, bigger and better than ever.
In 2004, La Petite Grocery opened its doors, serving made-from-scratch Louisiana fare in a nostalgic atmosphere.
The menu features a little something for everyone. From braised lamb shank to shrimp & grits, there’s a healthy mix of options to choose from.
But be sure to get an order of their famous blue crab beignets to start the meal off.
Served with a side of their house-made malt vinegar aioli, these savory little treats will quickly disappear, they’re that good.
