Just north of Lexington, in the heart of horse country, sits a small house that appears to have been there for years. When in fact, this relatively new building has been created out of reclaimed material and created to be like the general stores of years past. Inside, you'll find Windy Corner Market, a charming restaurant that serves the most mouthwatering food and creates an atmosphere reflective of the gorgeous countryside where it resides.

Acclaimed chef and owner Ouita Michel has created a real gem with Windy Corner Market. Nestled on a corner of backroads north of Lexington, she aimed to create a restaurant that honors local farmers and great food. The horse country location and small country house feel only add to its appeal.

The inside of the Market feels like an old-time general store and even includes Kentucky-made items that you can purchase. The warm, friendly atmosphere is perfect for enjoying breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert - all of which are served at Windy Market.

A specialty item on the menu is the Po-Boy sandwich, made with locally baked brioche. Other menu favorites include the fried catfish, artichoke fritters and the Kentucky Boy Po-Boy sandwich.

The line is often out the door, but that's only a sign of the great food, don't let it deter you. On a nice day, you can enjoy your meal on the outdoor picnic tables. The experience is lovely and feels like you're having a picnic in the middle of horse country.

Windy Corner Market may be unassuming from the outside, but its small size is definitely not an indicator of the big flavors that are served within.
