Once upon a time, horses were boarded here. These weren't just any old horses: they had an important job. This was the stable for horses that delivered beer for the Terre Haute Brewing Company.
The building's entryway was constructed back in 1890. The stables were removed in the 1920s, and the place was cleaned up and turned into a restaurant. Much of the original woodwork is still in place, giving The Stables restaurant a uniquely historic vibe you won't find in many other eateries.

Rumor has it that even legendary gangster John Dillinger had a meal here from time to time, back before it was The Stables restaurant.
Every aspect of your meal here is truly a delightful and unique encounter. An evening spent at Stables Steakhouse is an evening well-spent indeed.
Even the drinks are spectacular, and you'll find that the beverages are as beautiful as they are delicious. The wine selection is to die for, and you can always ask your server for the best pairings. The staff here is very knowledgeable and it truly shows that they love what they do.
Sure, maybe this place used to be somewhere that horses slept and went about their daily lives...
...but now it's a place where we can go about our daily lives. And we're pretty darn grateful to be doing that with a gigantic juicy steak in front of us. Instead of, you know, hay bales.
