5 Candlelit Restaurants in Indiana Perfect for a Cozy Night Out
You can't go wrong with any of these candlelit restaurants in Indiana, featuring everything from steak and seafood to spaghetti.
You can't go wrong with crafting the perfect date night at home, but sometimes, a night on the town is exactly what you need. For a romantic night out, candlelit dinners just simply can't be beat. There's just something about the warmth of accent candles and the aromas of a fine meal that create a picture-perfect evening, and fortunately for foodies, Indiana is home to some unforgettably romantic restaurants. Don your finest apparel and prepare to make memories, because these candlelit restaurants in Indiana are going to knock your socks off.
1. The Loft Restaurant
Part of Traders Point Creamery, The Loft Restaurant is a dreamy little escape in a 19th-century dairy barn. Rustic vibes are delightfully elegant when paired with a farm-to-fork menu, and the Traders Point team does it right.
They offer a seasonally-rotating menu rich with sustainable sourcing, including many ingredients from their own farm. Dinner is offered Tuesdays through Saturdays, and their menu offers a bit of variety to delight different palates. Personally, I'd start out with a cheese board and move into a hearty pasta dish, but offerings like steak provide a more elegant meal and burgers keep it simple but delicious.
While you dine, you'll want to take in the atmosphere of the old barn. Believe it or not, the restaurant barn was originally located near the Wabash River in Bluffton, Indiana. Today, it's where their cheese is made (I told you I recommend the cheese board!), and you can watch the process on its lower level.
2. C3 Bar
Located in Bloomington, C3 Bar is a cool cocktail and cuisine bar that's locally owned, intimate, and laid-back. It hearkens back to the good old days when everyone at the neighborhood bar knew your name, and a host of locally sourced ingredients keep everything feeling fresh.
While the lounge and patio are always a hit for catching up with friends, more romantic nights out can be enjoyed when you book a table and indulge in a candlelit dinner for two. The Renwick Village Center is an incredible spot for a date night, and seasonal offerings on their menus make every experience memorable. From handcrafted cocktails to flatbreads sliders, this casual eatery makes familiar foods feel fancy.
Whatever you opt for, don't hold back on the fries. They come with rosemary aioli that's absolutely heavenly, and they're delightfully sharable... but you might want to keep them all for yourself.
3. Prime 47- Indy's Steakhouse
You can't beat a good steakhouse meal, and Prime 47 is known for its romantic vibes. Located in an Indianapolis building from 1895, this spot boasts huge pillars and jaw-dropping 18-foot windows looking out over busy streets, and old school tile floors infuse a certain warmth to the space.
Their award winning wine list is certainly a draw, but their seasonal menu is what captures my attention. While the seafood tower might be a bit decadent for two, there's no shortage of seafood plates to add some pizazz to your date night. Decadent soups, incredible steak cuts (and one 47-day dry-aged steak), surf and turf, and special toppings and sauces allow you to fully customize your meal.
You really can't beat the historic architecture downtown, and there's so much in Indianapolis that can round out your date night.
4. Bocca
Another gem in Indianapolis is Bocca, a quaint little Italian joint in a much sleepier part of town. As soon as you step inside, the warm and dimly lit ambiance combines with aromas to draw you in. Intimate and cozy, this is truly a date night destination to remember... it's just that warm and welcoming.
As with any good modern Italian restaurant, Bocca offers antipasti, salads, pasta, sausage, steak, fish, and dessert. You can't go wrong with a classic spaghetti dinner, but I personally have to recommend the wild mushroom-stuffed ravioli. It comes with ricotta and truffle cream, and it's next-level decadent.
Of course, no intimate Italian meal is complete without dessert. I tend to gravitate toward tiramisu, but the pistachio ricotta cake is a one-of-a-kind dish you won't find anywhere else in Indy. Be ready to take home some leftovers, because the chefs don't hold back on portion sizes.
5. Cork ‘N Cleaver
Located in Fort Wayne, Cork 'N Cleaver is a classic steakhouse with a Southwest-style influence. Unlike some of the bigger steakhouses around the area, this one boasts an intimate vibe that's reminiscent of a night at home. It's actually part of a chain, but this location is the only one you'll find in Fort Wayne.
Offering a diverse menu of hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, slow-roasted prime rib, and more, there's something for everyone. And if that doesn't capture your attention, the salad bar just might draw you in. A cleaver-shaped menu immediately introduces you to the fun ambiance, and candle-melted butter brings the feast together.
Truly, you can't go wrong with any of these incredible restaurants in Indiana. From steak and seafood to spaghetti, a bella notte is effortless with a candlelit dinner setting the scene.
