The Half Shell SSI opened up in 2013 and it's the type of casual spot that perfectly embodies "beach life" culture.

There's a full bar available, and it's really no surprise that this place is often packed. It's popular with both locals and the many tourists that flock to St. Simons.

There's a dog-friendly patio that's perfect for sunny days when you feel the urge to enjoy an al fresco meal.

The menu is full of both seafood options and classic American staples.

The seafood is locally-procured whenever possible, which means that it's tough to find dishes much fresher than this.

The open-faced tuna tacos are a popular dish. Topped with Ahi tuna and sweet chili slaw, they're certainly not your average taco.

You can't go wrong with shrimp... there's something downright addictive about them.

You'll also find plenty of soups, salads, and sandwiches on the menu for those who don't wish to partake in the seafood.

The Half Shell doesn't accept reservations, and it can definitely get pretty busy here, but the food is worth the wait.
