Fast-forward over a half-century later and the pink art deco building has gotten a refresh thanks to Urban Bungalow, a home essentials gift shop, and Pickford’s Counter, a breakfast and lunch place.

When pairing these two businesses you get the perfect amalgam of things that once made Pickford’s Sundries so special. This is where modern and retro home goods and old-school counter-serve meals collide.

But also, the menu from Pickford’s Counter is designed with the history of the building in mind, plus a more modern spin.

Of course, you’ll find those same delicious milkshakes but elevated with different flavors. You’ll also be able to snag a few Chicago-style hot dogs, which sound simple enough, but they are made from ground top round and brisket and then topped with all different types of yumminess.

Or you can just slip in and grab a hot coffee and a fresh-made donut to take with you to start your day.
