Deep in the heart of the Ozark National Forest lies the tiny town of Oark. And in this tiny town, lies the oldest store in Arkansas. Oark General store has been around for over one-hundred years supplying provisions and groceries to the surrounding community.
Oark General Store is on the Arkansas Register of Historic Places and rightly so.
It first opened in the year 1890 to provide supplies to the isolated community it resides in.
Oark is an isolated community that it's no wonder there was a need for a store here.
To this day, locals can stop in to buy a few necessities without having to drive to a larger town or city.
Oark General Store also has a restaurant!
The food here is so good that people travel from all over the state just for a meal. Seating is available both indoors and outside.
Serving up breakfast and lunch items, there is something delicious here for everyone.
Some menu items include wraps, croissant sandwiches, burgers, fries, onion rings, and biscuits and gravy. Come hungry because the portions here are huge!
