While the weather is nice and the air is fresh and fragrant, this is the ideal time to be outdoors. Plus, it will be the ultimate remedy to get rid of your winter blues (if you have them) or simply to get out and experience something new.

Whether you’re an expert hiker or you’re like me and you enjoy easy strolls, I’ve created a list of picture-perfect spring hikes in Arkansas, with soothing outdoor sounds and lots of nature eye-candy. These hikes are great for photographers and nature lovers alike, looking to slow down and soak up the pretty spring scenes in the Natural State.

1. Dripping Springs Trail, Paris

Wildflowers aren’t the main attraction at Mount Magazine State Park; the park is known as the home of Arkansas's highest point. That said, several trails offer subtle glimpses of pretty blooms, including the lesser-known Drippings Springs Trail. This hidden four-mile trail is an easy route perfect for pups and the little ones. I like that it’s one of the quieter routes in the park, so it feels secluded and intimate. There is even a chance you could have it to yourself.

After winter’s cold fades away, this trail is a real treat for springtime magic. In addition to the seasonal perennials, trillium and phlox, the path features spectacular views, a cave, rock formations, waterfalls, and tranquil streams. Nature photographers will have plenty here that demands their full attention. Several offshoot trails allow you to create your own adventure, too.

2. Orchard Trail, Bentonville

Located on the grounds of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Orchard Trail is a kid-friendly hike that blends nature with man-made art. In springtime, it’s a visually stunning trail with colorful art pieces, featuring blooming flowers set amidst the backdrop of lush woodlands. At less than a mile long, this paved hike is great for casual walkers, photographers, moms with strollers, and wheelchair users as well.

Although the path is open year-round, spring is one of the best times to visit. This is the kind of trail that comes alive in a quiet but magical way. It beckons you to slow down, admire the intricate artwork, as well as the pop of colors, as you trek. You could easily complete this cheery trail in less than an hour, so you’ll have plenty of time to explore the trendy town of Bentonville, Arkansas

3. Caddo Bend Trail, Mountain Pine

The four-mile loop trail inside Lake Ouachita State Park is full of so much character, especially in the springtime. Caddo Bend Trail is a wonderful blend of water views, boulder gardens, and lush woodlands. In the spring, native wildflowers are scattered across the trail with patches of blooms near the boulders and along the water’s edge.

And speaking of water, Lake Ouachita is absolutely stunning, with hidden coves along its shores, perfect for a springtime picnic. When the weather is pleasant, you can easily hike for a few hours and spend the rest of your day kayaking, fishing, or climbing the observation deck to take in expansive views of the lake.

This trek is moderate, with approximately 500 feet of elevation gain. It’s enough of a challenge for expert hikers, but won't be too overwhelming. With lots to see along the way, the kids and furry pals will be very entertained on this scenic trail in Arkansas
