Welcome to Lake Wedington, a gorgeous 102-acre lake tucked inside the Ozark National Forest, and it’s one of Arkansas’ best kept secrets.
The lake is a haven for fishing, swimming, kayaking, and more. In the warmer months, it’s surrounded by lush hardwoods, pines, and pretty little wildflowers.
If you love mountain biking, we recommend the 7-mile North Twin trail. But for today, we’ll be hiking the Lake Wedington Shore Trail to see the lovely blooms as well as the scenic lake.
The easy trail is mostly flat with very little elevation change and it’s covered with blooming flowers along the way.
You’ll encounter a rainbow of blooms including blazing stars, purple coneflowers, delicate irises…
…little white daisies, black-eyed Susans, and more, springtime splendor.
Keep your eyes peeled as wildlife is abundant in the area. If you get lucky, you might see some butterflies along the way.
Beyond the wildflowers, there’s a flowing waterfall that is a nice little treat on this hike. It’s also a great spot to rest and fully immerse yourself in nature.
You’ll need to cross the creek, so depending on the water levels, you may get wet. Be sure to wear proper footwear just in case.
Between the scenic lake and the pretty little blooms, we know you’ll love this wildflower trail in Arkansas.
So, let’s kick off the spring with this enchanting hike in the Ozarks.
