This Cozy Alabama Restaurant Makes a Bowl of Soup You’ll Crave All Winter

Saigon Noodle House in Birmingham serves flavorful Vietnamese noodle soups made with fresh ingredients.

Soup is my go-to winter comfort food. It's a one-pot wonder with so many delicious combinations of meats, vegetables, spices, and herbs that I could easily enjoy a different soup every day for a month. It's the perfect lunch after a chilly morning hike or an ideal dinner after a busy day at work. Although I like to think I can make a decent soup at home, I also love trying new soups at restaurants, especially when they're fresh and homemade. Saigon Noodle House in Birmingham, Alabama, has out-of-this-world soups that are so good you'll think about them all winter long.

Saigon Noodle House serves exceptional traditional Vietnamese cuisine off of U.S. Highway 280. The family-owned restaurant opened in 2009 and serves authentic dishes like fresh spring rolls, pho noodle soups, and báhn mi sandwiches. Many of the menu items are based on family recipes.

Its tasty soups include Bún Bò Huế, which has noodles, brisket, Vietnamese ham, and meatballs, and Phở Gà, with noodles, sliced chicken, and shredded ginger. There are several varieties of soups with thick noodles, clear noodles, and egg noodles. The rich, flavorful soups are made with slow-cooked broths. They're also carefully prepared with fresh ingredients. Wouldn't you love to enjoy one of these steamy bowls of soup on a cold winter day?

Saigon Noodle House serves many more dishes in addition to its fantastic soups. Its appetizers include Chả Giò, fried pork egg rolls, and Gỏi Cuốn Tôm, shrimp spring rolls. The restaurant's staff makes the colorful spring rolls from scratch with vegetables, meats, and rice vermicelli. The menu also includes several stir-fried noodle dishes, rice dishes, and a variety of báhn mi sandwiches, which can be made with pork, ham, fried tofu, chicken, and spicy lemongrass shrimp.
