9 Amazing Offbeat Things To Do In Washington This Summer

Every Washingtonian looks forward to summer, which means every Washingtonian heads to our most popular tourist destinations - at least, that's how it feels. But there are also plenty of lesser known spots to visit and events to check out before fall. These are a few of our favorites.

1. Try Skate-a-raoke in Seattle.

Every second Wednesday of the month from 8:30 PM - 12:30 AM, Southgate Roller Rink in White Center hosts Skate-a-raoke, which is exactly what it sounds like. Brush up on your roller skating skills while you belt out your favorite songs.

2. Catch a concert at Audubon Park in Spokane.

Shadle and Audubon parks are hosting Northwest Spokane’s summer concert series this year. Next up is The Moops on July 27th.

3. Eat some shrooms.

The Pacific Northwest Mushroom Festival is held on the last weekend of July at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey. In addition to mushroom-eating, you can run a 5K and enjoy plenty of other treats and family-friendly activities.

4. Take the happiest yoga class ever.

Soul Pose is coming to Seattle on August 19th. It's an all-day yoga party with dance breaks, black lights and body painting and all-around positivity.

5. Learn about Bellingham's history in the best way.

After a short hiatus, the Good Time Girls Tours are offering informative walking tours in Bellingham. The Sin & Gin Tour covers the history of prostitution and prohibition in the area and includes a tasting at Chuckanut Bay Distillery.

6. Feed some bison.

Located in Springdale, the Win Tur Bison Farm opens to the public every spring. You can feed the buffalo, tour the farm and buy bison-related swag at the gift shop.

7. Light up the night in Seattle.

On August 12, Lusio will illuminate Volunteer Park in Seattle. This is a free family-friendly event that combines beautiful lights, sound and art to stimulate the senses.

8. Rock out on the river.

On July 29, Gateway Golf Center in Clarkston will host the annual Rockin' on the River event featuring some great music from bands like Blues Traveler.

9. Take a tractor tour... with wine.

Heading to Leavenworth this summer? Stop by the nearby Wedge Mountain Winery (in Peshastin) for Ol' an Blue Tractor Tour, offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 11-3. $15 gets you a guided tractor tour with winemaker Charlie and a glass of vino. Kids can ride free (but they'll have to skip the wine).
