There’s An American Parade Float Museum In Virginia And It’s One Of The Quirkiest Places You’ll Ever Go

Today's feature destination might just take the cake for the quirkiest. It's a museum dedicated to retired parade floats, and relatively few people realize it even exists. There's a little-known attraction in Virginia that most people have never even heard of: the American Celebration on Parade. It's located at Shenandoah Caverns, and it's marked by a miniature Statue of Liberty outside.

Inside, prepare to be absolutely blown away by an up-close-and-personal experience with retired parade floats.

These floats have all played a role in major national celebrations, ranging from Thanksgiving parades to Presidential Inaugural Parades.

The most interesting aspect of the museum is seeing just how massive these floats are. What may seem unassuming or even small on TV is giant in-person!

At any given time, there are approximately 20 floats on display, each with information about where and when the float was last used.

Visitors will also learn more about the experience of driving or operating a float.

You'll want to plan to spend at least an hour exploring this 40,000-square-foot facility, which is stroller and ADA accessible.
