Since 1963, Bread and Puppet has been one of the leading political theater companies in the world performing with an extensive collection of puppets that are life-size and beyond. Bread and Puppet's eclectic collection is housed at its museum in Glover, Vermont. To reach this unique destination, take I 91 South to exit 24 if you're coming from the southern part of Vermont.
Since Bread and Puppet is a political theater company, the characters in the performances represent powerful causes ranging from politics, social injustice, and war.
For example, here are some of the puppets that were used during Bread and Puppet Theater's Apocalypse Defiance Circus performance.
Many of the puppets average between 10 to 15-feet tall!
Bread and Puppet also has an Apprenticeship Program where aspiring puppeteers can learn the ins and outs of puppetry.
The museum is open every day, from 9 am - 8 pm. During your visit, expect to see a little bit of everything including these unique puppets.
