It only takes 15 minutes, so it's the perfect addition to a Texas Hill Country day trip itinerary! Come along as we explore this fun little open air train ride adventure.
If you're in search of a quick outing where the entire family will have a blast...
...then look no further than Southwest Williamson County Regional Park in Leander, TX
Leander is a beautiful little Austin suburb about 20 miles north of the Capital City.
This little-known park here is home to the Cedar Rock Railroad. A quarter-scale, open-air train, the railroad takes passengers on a one-mile train ride through beautiful woodland scenery.
The journey takes a mere 15 minutes to complete, so it can easily fit into an already busy afternoon.
As if the ride itself wasn't fun enough already, it's only one of several train-themed attractions in the park.
There is also a miniature, crank-powered railroad that allows kids to drive themselves around the track.
And another thing that makes this place so much fun for the little ones...
...is that it has a playground modeled after train cars!
You'll also see a replica Old West town.
It harkens back to the heyday of the railroad era in Texas.
There is also a cool shaded picnic area.
This is the perfect spot to sit for a spell and enjoy some snacks and cold drinks from the depot.
Visit the Cedar Rock Railroad website or the Cedar Rock Railroad Facebook page for more information, including current hours of operation and ticket prices.
