Nation’s First Glow-In-The-Dark Playground Breaks Ground In Texas
Joya, the first glow-in-the-dark playground in the U.S., is opening in Farmers Branch, Texas, by fall 2023.
A glow-in-the-dark playground in Texas (the first one of its kind in the nation!) is opening by fall 2023 at Oran Good Park in Farmers Branch, and I can almost guarantee it will be your kids' new favorite place to let loose and burn off some energy. Complete with a 27-foot-tall obstacle course, glowing seats and walkways, and a special toddler area, Joya is truly one-of-a-kind. Plus, it's suitable for children of all abilities, so everyone can join in the fun.
Ground has broken on the nation's first glow-in-the-dark playground, and it looks like it's going to be an absolute blast.
Named "Joya," which is Spanish for "jewel," the playground will be located in Farmers Branch, a suburb of Dallas. It is slated to open by fall 2023.
The playground will span 18,000 square feet and feature everything from swings to a zipline with interactive lights.
Most of the buzz is centered around the 27-foot-tall obstacle course with six levels of climbing.
The obstacle course is enclosed with dense mesh for safety, so parents can sit back and watch (and not worry!) while their little ones play.
Although the glow-in-the-dark angle is what sets Joya apart, it will function as a regular playground during the day...
...but when darkness falls, the "Crown Jewel of Playgrounds" comes alive in a dazzling display of shimmering lights.
What's more, Joya is an inclusive, all-abilities playground, so nobody has to miss out on the fun.
Additionally, there will be family-friendly events such as arts and cultural happenings on designated days.
Joya will also feature a 7,000-square-foot toddler playground with a sensory play area, ramps, and other safe and interactive elements that ensure even the tiniest parkgoers are not left out.
Even the seats and pathways at Joya glow in the dark! So while adults may find themselves sitting on the sidelines, they're still just as much a part of the action.
Visit the Joya website or the City of Farmers Branch website for more information about the park, including hours of operation and an exact opening date.
